About RYO ITABASHI
I’m RYO ITABASHI, the founder and Creative Director of Rebuild Factoryz inc., working in branding and design, with a Master of Fine Arts. Rather than writing code, I direct AI coding agents to build Shelly, an open-source Android terminal and AI agent runtime, and Nacre, a split-layout Android keyboard.
Longer version
Branding and design are my profession; code is not. I don’t hand-write production code: implementation is delegated to AI coding agents (Claude Code and Codex), while the decisions — what to build, what to cut, which risks are acceptable, and when something counts as done — stay with me.
The main project is Shelly, an open-source AI terminal and agent runtime for Android that ships bash, Node.js, Python and git inside the app and runs agents on a schedule on the phone itself. Between 2026-03-04 and 2026-11-04 it reached 2,830 commits and 21 versioned releases, designed around and verified on a single Galaxy Z Fold6 (N=1). The keyboard in Shelly’s screenshots is Nacre, a split-layout Android IME, also built through AI, to solve the input problem on mobile.
